Weekly DMP group with clients on a 12-step recovery programme.
The weekly DMP session is the only client-centred part of their treatment programme and while some embrace the creative process enthusiastically, others find it challenging on many levels. The role of the therapy team is to support the clients in managing themselves through the process and facilitate learning and growth in themselves and their relationships.
Activities are often quite lively and playful but can be reflective and symbolic, most sessions contain a combination of both. DMP is a person-centred process and clients are encouraged to participate in planning the session and to choose their own way of accessing the activities. Unconditional positive regard is one of the core conditions of our way of working and this is often the aspect that most resonates with these clients.
